You can also add sugar free sweetener – I make Mr. Hungry’s with Splenda (he prefers it) and cinnamon – it’s yummy. The key to good BPC is that you emulsify it. I use this battery- powered, hand- held frother thingy and it works great. Others make it in a magic bullet or blender and blend for 2. You can’t just stir it in with a spoon or you’ll have a gross oil slick on top. Ewww. Try bulletproof – you’ll never want to go back to heavy cream again – or at least we didn’t! Do I need to be in ketosis already to do the egg fast diet? No, but it will be easier if you are – the detox symptoms of getting into ketosis can be rough already on first timers – doing something as extremely low carb as the egg fast right off the bat will be much harder. I recommend easing into it with my 3 Day Keto Kickstart Plan if you’re a complete newbie to any low carb plan. If you’re really desperate to get started on the egg fast though – go ahead and give it a shot, you’ve been warned. What should I drink while on the egg fast diet? Water – and lots of it! Aim for at least 1. Can I drink diet soda or other calorie free drinks on the egg fast diet? Diet soda is inherently unhealthy for you. Don’t stop taking any medications! If you aren’t already supplementing with magnesium and potassium (lite salt added to your food works best), then you should start. Be sure to get plenty of sodium as well. These three things will help you avoid getting cramps, headaches, and help regulate your fluids to avoid lightheadedness, heart palpitations, etc. How will I stay “regular?”Magnesium is a mild laxative and will help with this if you’re supplementing (as you should be.) Some experts do not think it is an optimal state for athletes but others experts disagree. I think we all have bio hack ourselves to see what feels right. Of course, I believe that thepaleo template is good starting place for optimal health but ketosis can be an add- on or tweak for people who get stuck or feel hopeless. It can be a powerful and effective way to lose weight without hunger and many of my friends have had success with it. Always ask your doctor before beginning any new nutrition or weight loss plan. These hormones are smarter than you and you can’t trick them no matter how much you want to finish that midnight movie or late night project. If these hormones are out of whack they will rule the day and there will be no way you will be able stick to your keto plan. Cortisol promotes belly fat storage, and leptin/grehlin imbalances with cause you to overeat so get your ZZZZZZ’s!! Sleep in a very dark room and wear goggles while watching TV to block out harmful blue light. Ketosis is a metabolic state that occurs when you have an insufficient amount of stored carbohydrate to provide energy to the brain and red blood cells. Ketosis is the process of fat stores being broken down into ketones to supply the necessary energy. If you are following a very low- carb or specifically ketogenic diet, you are likely to experience a range of symptoms. Ketosis typically happens when you are following a low carbohydrate diet, or to a lesser degree if you don't eat sufficient amount of carbs for a day or so. Entering mild ketosis, particularly overnight between meals, is completely normal. If your body uses up all its available energy and glycogen you get from carbohydrates, it starts breaking up fat molecules for energy instead. The liver uses the resultant fatty acids to create ketones, bodies of energy, which can be used by the brain, nervous system and red blood cells. One of the key indicators for ketosis is the state of your breath. There is a diverse and concentrated range of organic compounds in human breath, which can demonstrate what is going on inside your body. Acetone, for example, is a ketone produced when fatty acids are metabolized for energy. Your body wants to excrete the increased acetone, so it releases it on the breath. This can lead to your breath smelling either like fruit, or having a metallic scent like nail- polish remover. This depends on the severity of your ketosis. If your breath is extremely acetone- heavy, you may be approaching ketoacidosis in which the concentration of ketones in your blood is too high and can poison your body. This is dangerous and requires medical attention. If you are in ketosis consistently, you will begin to excrete acetone in your urine as well. You can test for acetone in your urine by purchasing special testing strips. The bulk of the acetone produced is removed with your breath, but small amounts are excreted in the urine if the liver is unable to break it down into smaller, less harmful sugars, according to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry website. Going into ketosis can cause weight loss, which can be a reason to try to achieve it. While pungent breath and urine are the most common indicators of ketosis, the School of Medicine at the University of New Mexico outlines a variety of other symptoms including constipation, which is common, as well as hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar, if you are particularly active. More serious conditions include hypercholesterolemia, a high fat concentration in the blood, and hyperacidosis, which occurs when the ketosis becomes severe and the blood starts to become acidic. They call it a Passport account. But even with this one you still can’t go to the Fitness First Platinum gyms. Fitness First Rates fluctuate from a little less than 1. K to around 3. K for the passport types and 3. K for the Platinum accounts. This makes them the most expensive out of the popular mainstream gyms. Make sure to try to bargain for the cheapest you can get when talking to their sales people. They’ll try to milk you for all you’ve got but at the end of the day they’ll settle with getting you to sign up for a lower price if they have to. I suck at bargaining so I paid the full 3. K per month deal lol. My brother was paying around 2. K or 2. 5. K for his membership. We were both passport holders but we never bothered upgrading to platinum. They have really good equipment though so that’s a plus. Most of their stuff is either new or well maintained. They’ve also got a lot of diversity with their machines. Their trainers are nice and they’ve got a lot so if you get one to assist you he/she’ll usually be able to focus on your workout without any distractions from other members. The CRs are really good. They’re clean and the lockers are convenient. They’ve also got liquid soap and shampoo in the shower stalls already (I suspect they’re the same thing and just labeled differently). They have a free sauna though I never really use it since I’m not into that. Classes are free so if you get bored with weight lifting and traditional cardio on the machines you can try some of the dance and aerobic classes. The Gym I normally go to (Robinsons Manila) has a punching bag and TRX gear (suspension cables). I’m not really sure about the other branches. There’s a lounge place with free coffee inside. They’ve also got a smoothie and healthy food stall so you can eat there before or after your workout. They’ve got multiple TVs in front of the cardio machines so that you don’t get too bored with your workout. You get a free bag, earphones, towel and “I think” water bottle when you join. I’m not sure about the last one, can’t remember. They have a pretty awesome cycling class. The staff were pretty easy to talk to whenever I had issues. That’s pretty much it for the things that stood out with me. The big turn off really for my case was the price. K is just a little too much for me so I’ll be cutting my membership after next month. September will be the last month of Fitness First for me. UPDATE. I’m thinking of just buying 1. Elorde Gym for 1. K. It’s a better option I think and they’ve got free weights over there if I ever feel the need to pump some iron. My boxing trainings are also a lot more intense than my regular weight lifting sessions so I’ll just stick to that for now.
